Topology and interpretation safeguards
The visualization is an ordered hop sequence, not a geographic route map: router addresses do not reliably identify physical locations. Private, shared, local, reserved, documentation, malformed, and other non-public hop addresses are replaced with “Internal hop hidden,” and raw command output is never rendered. Timed-out hops remain visible so a gap is not mistaken for a shorter path.
ICMP paths can change between packets and probes; routers may filter or deprioritize replies, and CDN or anycast DNS can resolve a different target per region. Ping and traceroute share one conservative 180-test rolling hourly ceiling below Globalping's documented 250-test anonymous allowance, plus per-connection throttling.
